Figurine & Milk Glass Fragments

Figurine & Milk Glass Fragments

I spent the afternoon on a small beach located on the Chesapeake Bay in the aftermath of Tropical Storm Hermine.

This was my 4th visit to the beach, known for sea glass.

In my first few visits I found plenty of white and brown sea glass along with a few pottery and crock shards.

This find was particularly exciting.

Good shards, not tumbled
by: Louis

As shown on the map, Saxis Beach is in a landlocked bay. There is little wave action.

The photo shows nice pottery and ceramic shards, good for collecting. However, you will not really find "sea glass" which must be tumbled and frosted to qualify.

It looks like you will find old glass though.

Beach name and location
by: Christian

Saxis beach in Saxis, VA.

Just before entering the town of Saxis take a right on Matthews Rd. There is a sign that indicates swimming and kayaking at the turn.

Once you park you can either head left or right on the beach. I have found glass in either direction, but by far, the left side seems to have more.

Check the tides, because the beach can get pretty slim at high tide.

I hope your search is fruitful. Enjoy.

What Beach?
by: Kris E.

Hello Christian!

Lovely catch! What beach did you visit? I'm near by and would like to do some hunting there myself. :)
