Authenticity - Sea Glass or Plastic?

How can you tell if a piece that you find on the beach is sea glass or plastic?

Thank you for that good question. Here's what to do. Pick up a rock or use your keys. Scratch the unknown object. If you can scratch it with the rock or with a metal object, then it is plastic, not glass.

A simple way is to gently bite down on the suspect piece...you'll know immediately it it's glass or plastic......another "tell" is that plastic is warmer to the touch than glass.....
