Eco jewelry - What is it? The best!

Eco friendly, (also environmentally friendly, nature friendly, and green) are synonyms used to refer to goods and services considered to inflict minimal or no harm on the environment. Re-purposed, up-cycled, recycled jewelry are also terms that closely related to eco "ecological" jewelry.

Sea glass jewelry fits all of these description in a different and charmingway, performing a unique part in this effort to promote a cleaner, greener earth - taking what is basically consumer trash and turning it into attractive wearable art..

This is far different from jewelry made from manufactured or mined goods. Jewelry in history. The costs to the earth of mining diamonds, as just one example, is tremendous.

Eco Friendly Jewelry

Of course, we can't shop or buy our way to global sustainability. However, wherever possible, it is a pleasure to feel we are doing our part to help the environment.

Eco and Recycled Jewelry

Eco friendly jewelry or green jewelry appeals to consumers who are becoming more aware of the need to protect the environment. And those of us who spend a lot of time outdoors on the shores of lakes and oceans really know first-hand the effects that mass-produced consumer goods can have on the ecology.

On the other hand, fine jewelry is not going to go away. It has been a part of every known culture in man's history on this planet.

However, we can each feel good (and look good) while changing the origin of at least part of the jewelry we wear – in other words, wearing eco jewelry; environmentally friendly, "green" jewelry.

"For me, I guess the most incredible thing with using sea glass for repurposed or upcycled jewelry is the fact that nature has taken man's junk and converted it into something so beautiful, something that even man has a hard time duplicating.

"I get a kick out of thinking that nature has gotten a one-up on man for a change. Makes you wonder if man would just stop mucking up the environment what nature could do if let alone.

"Even though jewelry is small when you compare it to some of the beautiful sculptures, wall hangings, et cetera, that other artists are creating with "found" junk, I kind of feel like at least we've made a very small contribution in being "green" in recycling sea glass."

I am so fascinated by sea glass - I can’t believe at 70 I found a new hobby.

Thanks for the opportunity to search and read up on this!

Your site made me so happy tonight! Why?

Many happy memories swirled back into my mind when I saw your pictures. I spent my childhood on the beaches of Cape Cod and we spent many happy hours looking for sea glass.

Candee

It is a pleasure and refreshing to meet people in the sea glass community that are willing to share! I got some great tips from your site. It was wonderful not to spend my entire vacation looking for a beach. Thanks again!

Hi David and Lin.

Love your sea glass web site. I enjoy your picture of the month and intend on winning at least once.

I have been collecting and creating things from sea glass for over twenty years. I find my sea glass on the beautiful shores of Lake Erie in Cleveland Ohio.

Thank you for sharing your treasures with me.” Yours truly,

Cathy Lincks

Just wanted to let you know (since you were so helpful) that I won a blue ribbon (1st place) in Gifford Middle School Science Fair in the category of Environmental Science with my topic - Effect of a Florida Tidal Inlet on Wrack Line Sea Glass Volume.

Now, I will compete in the Regional Science Fair which will take place on Feb 2nd. My mom and dad and I had a lot of fun searching for sea glass.

Thanks,

Mary Hyde
