Glass Beach Mendocino

I have heard and read a lot about the glass beach in Mendocino California.

Is it true that there were like 4 or 5 dumps that dumped the trash of the town right on the beach? Or was it dumped in the water?

What concerns me is that Mendocino county is so beautiful.

Our family took a trip up the Mendocion coast when I was little and it looked so green and forested. I can't imagine dumping garbage on the beach.

Although I haven't been to the glass beach there, I am wondering what is being done to clean up the rest of the trash.

Also, I read that it is a state park now. Does that mean that the parks clean the beach and pick up any trash?

Any information would help. I have to write a paper for class on this.
