My son found this really cool piece on the shores of Whidbey Island, WA.

Very dark black and thick about as long as a toothpick.

I'm guessing it's the bottom of a bottle but what kind of bottle?

You can see letters J. EM which is only partial to the complete writing. Also 159 which is in middle and 75 which is above that.

We have been collecting beach glass for years but have never come across something like this.

Very curious. Any info would be great!
