About Maine:
One of the best areas of the United States for collecting sea glass,
Maine is a favorite location for sea glass hobbyists, crafts, artists,
jewelry, and festivals.
The coast of Maine is characterized by sandy beaches in the southern
state changing to rocky/pebbly beaches farther north.
Maine is the biggest of the other New England states combined.
Here's a question: Which has more coastline, California or Maine? If
you answered Maine, you are correct.
The heavily indented coast of Maine means the shore winds in and out of
many bays, making for much more shore than a straight coastline. Take
into account the islands and their shores, the coastline really adds up.
This is great for beach combing and sea glass collecting. But a coast
broken up with coves and inlets, with rocky promontories and islands,
means no easy direct highway hugging the coast. So access is a little
harder. But its worth for the hardy Maine Sea Glasser!
