Sanibel Sea Glass

Sanibel Island for Sea Glass?

Sanibel Island for Sea Glass?

~ beach glass report on Sanibel Island submitted by Anonymous

Only found 3 pieces of brown sea glass here, but it was the first I've ever found and I am hooked on searching for it now!

Notes about Sanibel Island Sea Glass

Sanibel Island Florida is an island formed by silt and run-off from the Caloosahatchee Basin. Most glass or pebbles in those conditions get buried under tons of sand and silt and never make it to the surface again.

For this reason, it is unusual to find sea glass on that type of a beach. However, if the waves and currents are strong such as after a storm, there is always the possibility of some being uncovered.

I Found Sea Glass on Sanibel
by: Kim Williams

My first ever trip to Sanibel 2/25-2/28/2016.
I was mainly looking for shells - which were plenty, but since I'm an avid Sea Glass collector and hunter, I did find and brought home 2 very large pieces.

Surf tumbled and rounded - they were an awesome surprise after seeing so many comments about no finds on the island.

I'll definitely look on my next trip in a few months!

I have hear about only seashells there. Have you find any beautiful shells or sea glass?
