Answer: There is not a whole lot you can do to prevent the tarnishing on silver without adding a coating - but that changes the looks of the sea glass. With plate metals, a lot of times it is hard to bring the shine back because they are plated. The silver layer may be too thin. However, you can use sliver cleaner purchased a local grocery or other store, and a toothbrush. Or, if you have access to a tumbler (with a clean barrel) you can tumble with a drop or 2 of liquid detergent (without citrus) and the stainless steel shot that comes with a tumbler. Unless the silver plate is too tarnished, you should be able to bring the shine back.
