What a nice day to start the years off!

There was a great spread of pebbles and, thus, good chance of finding sea glass.

I, David, was having neck and back problems though. Since I find the sea glass best when I am slightly bent over, today was not a good day for me.

Lin, on the other hand, found really nice pieces for the 2nd day in a row, and I was able to photo them.

By the way, this camera takes fantastic photos on the beach as you can see.

Check it out - Canon PowerShot A1100IS 12.1 MP. Ooooh, I just looked and the price now on Amazon is $299.00. Huh?

Why it costs so much now, I don't know, we got it new for about $149.00 I think.

On the other hand, there is a newer version, which I'm sure is really good... and it's only $139.00 - Canon PowerShot A3100IS 12.1 MP

Can someone explain this price difference to me? Please???

Anyway, we love the photos this camera takes and highly recommend it for on the spot sea glass beach photos.

To get back to the nice beach weather - I had my shirt off for awhile and ended up with a decent sunburn - one that likely won't peel, just turn darker (I hope). We call the beach sun here the "20 minute tan, 30 minute burn."

I know, it's not politically correct to get sunburned anymore. But somehow we're from that surf city era where tan looks, well, healthy.

We do use lots of sunblock on areas that are always exposed, though, like face, ears, arms, etc.

Hi Kay
by: David & Lin @ OdysseySeaGlass

Hey, if you ever get the chance, come visit!

There are more beaches not far from here that we haven't checked - beaches that we KNOW have good sea glass.

We could make a little adventure of exploring.

Nice

Love the pics!!! Yawl are truly living "the life".

I only wish I lived closer to the beach because I would be on it everyday that the weather would permit.

I love yawls posts...keep it up!! HaPpY New Year!!!

I love the starfish

The starfish looks like it is dancing to the ocean's rhythms.

It's a happy picture.

Nice blue color to this sea glass
David's best find was this bright blue that stood out so much that he saw it from about 20 feet away.

We had a very nice day at the beach today.

Low tide was fairly early, so we were able to miss much of the holiday hordes that are sunning and funning here at Huanchaco Beach, northern Peru.

The spread of "gravel" or beach pebbles was the best we have seen in some weeks here and so we had a very rewarding walk.

Although we didn't find any "very rare" colors, we did well with the "somewhat rare" colors.

What is impressive as usual here is the perfectly rounded and frosted pieces. It is much harder to find craft-grade sea glass than it is to find Jewelry A quality!

Although sea glass as such is not very well known (well, almost unknown) as such, there are the appreciative beachcombers here like anywhere else who pick up sea glass because its pretty, take it home, and put in a jar.

Now, our Peruvian friends have caught on and are rapidly becoming addicted.

One friend, Alex Cabanillas, had some family visiting from Lima, a long ways from here.

Their last day here, they had to catch the bus out in the evening. So they were wondering what to do during the day. Alex suggested walking the beach.

He showed them sea glass. They immediately began find (mostly clear) pieces but very rounded and frosted.

They got so excited they didn't want to leave the beach and had a hard time making the bus back to Lima.

You know what I mean :-)

8/22/2013 Sea Glass Catch - Huanchaco, Peru

Sea Glass from less than 2 hours in Huanchaco, Peru

Sea Glass from less than 2 hours in Huanchaco, Peru

~ sea glass catch submitted by David and Lin Schneider from Huanchaco, La Libertad, Peru, SA

Lin and I (David) from OdysseySeaGlass.com moved to Huanchaco, Peru in August of 2013.

We didn't know what to expect in regards to sea glass but of course were hoping there would be something.

Wow, what a surprise!

Huanchaco has turned out to be one of the best beaches we have found among many.

Huanchaco doesn't rank with Fort Bragg as far as quantity or Seaham England for rarity but it does have quite a bit of very beautifully tumbled and frosted sea glass.

The colors include beautiful shades of green, teal, and blue. White is predominant but common brown and green are not that common.

There is almost no glass that has to be thrown back. When you find a piece, it is likely to be perfect!
