The most unexpected beach to find sea glasses

by Toshi Kanno
(El Granada CA)

Sea glasses from Hawaii

Sea glasses from Hawaii

I'm just back from Hawaii, with a big handful of sea glasses AND a very old piece from a blue apothecary jar !
where did I find them ? On Waikiki Beach, yes, right front of the hotel where I stayed. At first I wasn't looking for anything but as soon as I stepped on to the beach,I found one after another. The most of the people on the beach were there for to swim or sun bath but beach combing. So,the beach was mine to collect all the glasses I want ! I never thought I would be finding anything at the busiest beach in the world.
So,next time you go to Waikiki Beach,do look for the sea glasses.
They are going to be the best souvenir of your trip !

I'm headed to Waikiki on Feb 13th and am SO happy to have run across your post!!! I'm also heading up north while there to check out Mokuleia.

Any other "don't miss" Oahu locations that I should take note of??

Wow Toshi,

Who would have thought it?

Thanks for sharing the experience and the pic.

I know when we went to the beach on Saturday, right down where everybody had walked I found a really pretty piece of seafoam (jewelry quality), a cornflower blue, and a cobalt blue. Just because there may be a lot of folks on the beach doesn't necessarily mean they're all looking for sea glass.
