What are these large pieces of yellow sea glass?

Can you help me figure out what these large pieces of yellow sea glass is from.  I used the blue sea marble as a size reference because I couldn't find a dime.

The lighter looking yellow in the rear has a nice smooth large scalloped/smooth edge. The piece in the foreground was probably octagonal in shape and has the very definite notch in it.

I always find it in this one area.

Thank you for your help.

Thank you for your question, Robin. Sea glass identification is sometimes possible if the sea glass is still retains an identifiable shape, pattern, and/or rare color. Several of our viewers are extremely good at identifying pieces like these.

How do experienced sea glass collectors identify where a special piece of glass came from? From reading a lot of books about collectible glass and origins.

There are basically two different types of books that are great resources for identifying your glass; one is for bottle glass and the other type is for glassware glass.

If your glass is of a rare color, has a definite pattern or shape, and is not from a bottle, a great book to help for sea glass identification is

Collectible Glassware from the 40s, 50s, 60s 10th Edition (Collectible Glassware from the Forties, Fifties, and Sixties)
. A lot of the sea glass you'll find that is of a rare color comes from these years.

With this book and another one on collectible bottles, like Warman's Bottles Field Guide, you'll have a great
start to becoming an expert on sea glass identification.

large yellow sea glass

Hi

my seaglass jeweler friend took one look at it and said "it was an ashtray".

That makes sense with the notch. Plus it seemed cast and that was a popular color of glass
in the 1970's.

Thank you for the tip about the glass books.

My CPA has a huge bottle collection that he dug up over 30 years ago in West Maui and he does not have any yellows.

Found another piece of it yesterday.
