Padre Island National Seashore - Sea Glass Report

Padre Island National Seashore near Corpus Christi, TX. - has never been good for glass until after Hurricane Harvey 2017.$10 entrance fee- free with senior pass.
Sea glass starts at about the “20 Mile” mileage marker.
From the visitor center down to the Mansfield Cut, it is a 60 mile drive on the beach. A 4- wheel, high clearance vehicle is necessary. Check at Visitor Center for information but know that watching tide times + sunset time, and preparing for possibly being cut off at high tide is critical.
Take lots of food, water and blankets.
Speed limits are low so allow for a long drive. In 3 days (about 7-8 hours hunting total)
I probably picked up around 300-400 pieces of beach glass — most destined for the trash as I do not throw glass back into the ocean at a National Seashore (think beach cleanup).
Lots of pendant-size pieces in good condition, many are beautifully frosted.
The sea glass is found in the piles of seashells that wash up at low tide. Most glass is brown and varying shades of green.
There are some clear white, seafoam, blue and I found two pieces of lavender, 4 or 5 pieces of black, one gray and 3 pieces of cobalt blue. Colors other than brown and green can be hard to spot amongst the colorful shell pieces.
All the pieces in this photo were picked up between the 20 and 25 mile markers.
