your Odyssey Sea Glass News, Issue #046
November 21, 2010
Hi,

Lin_and_David

Lin's Report on the State of the Sea Glass Nation

There are lots of new things happening with Odyssey Sea Glass.  Here are the main ones for your perusal.

New featured seaglass artists:

Some of you remember from our last newsletter that we were going to start featuring a few jewelry artists.

We recently introduced Signe Lawson from Michigan with her line of Signeture X-clusive jewelry.

Signe's SignetureX-clusive Sea Glass Necklace

If you haven't checked out her jewelry on the site, do so.

She is incredible! She's an amazing artist and a really nice person.

   Tidbits:

  • Site navigation: David has been working on the site to make it a little easier to navigate. You'll notice the navigation buttons and categories in the left column may be a little different as well. Be sure and let us know if you have recommendations as far as finding your way around the site (we hit the 1,200 pages mark recently with 48,000 page views so far this month).

  • Gift certificates: Also, we've added a gift certificate. It will appear at the bottom of the left column on Odyssey Sea Glass.com - and if you're looking for that special gift but aren't sure exactly which sea glass jewelry or craft to buy...this is the way to go!

  • eBooks: David is currently working on an E-book series. The first part will be an Intro to Sea Glass Collecting. This has been something we've wanted to do for a while, so stay tuned.

  • Tutorials: I know we mentioned plans to do a couple of tutorials on sea glas jewelry and crafts.. We haven't forgotten those. They're just on the back burner currently because of health issues.

  Coming soon:

Very soon, we'll be featuring another jewelry artist, who is actually a longtime viewer of the site. Some of you may remember Joan and Bill Laverick from England.

We're going to interview Joan and hope to have her line of jewelry up on the site soon. She has a different approach to sea glass jewelry than Signe or me, and her English sea glass is like no other. Wow. We'll let you know when that happens.

Sea Glass Fan-addicts or just plain Fanatics?

  • Fan - Joan's husband, Bill, was at their favorite beach in England the other day and told us it was 2 degrees above freezing. That's dedication, boy, or is it an addiction??????????????? You decide ;-)

  • Fan as in "fan me, I'm warm?"  - We went to the beach the other day. We are headed into the hotter part of the year here down under. Very hot. Definitely sunscreen beach weather. Home of the 15-minute tan, 30-minute burn.

One of the things that happens each year at this time here in Northern Peru - aside from starting the very hot beach weather - is that the waves get bigger this time of the year and the sand starts moving.  This year, the sand is definitely diminishing and doing so at a pretty quick clip.

Yeah! More sea glass to be uncovered and all those interesting kinds of sea shells.
And what about yourselves?

Here is a little reminder to check out the upload features on the fun page, where you can contribute your comments, questions, and photos on what you find at the beach or just about anything to do with beach glass.

We invite any of you to share a short story of your beach impressions (funny, sad, or exciting) and get a link to the website or blog of your choice.
