Big Island Sea Glass - June 2011 Sea Glass Photo Contest

by Monica Dally
(Kaillua Kona, Hawaii)

Big Island Sea Glass

Big Island Sea Glass

This sea glass was found on the south end of the Big Island of Hawaii. As you can see, it was a good day for puka shells and pottery shards as well.

Date, time of day, and weather conditions? Sunny conditions on a summer day.

Since the tsunami hit us this year, its been a little more difficult to find sea glass. Every piece is a treasure.

Tsunami aftermath
by: Marylyn(SuperNan)

I suppose a tsunami would either remove or dump these precious bits and pieces.
Depending on where the beaches are and the tides.
Gosh that would mean that bits of sea glass and pottery would was up for years and years and years.
Hope you find lots more.
Cheers Marylyn
