question on glass float

We have found a large basketball size green glass float it still has netting and shells attached.

It has what looks like it could be a backwards 4 or  h on the opposite side of the seal button.

This thing is awesome!

I was wondering if I could get some info about it and is a collector's item?

question on glass float

This is in answer to Angie in Idaho. Very nice find, congrats.

You have found a Japanese Long Line Tuna Float.

If you would like to send me a scan of the float's marking at stufarns@yahoo.com then I can tell you the manufacturer of the float and possibly some History.
