Sea Glass Jewelry Artist

I am very new to sea glass collecting.

I took up the art of jewelry making this winter and have been experimenting with wire wrapping.

I was never even thinking about sea glass; that is; until I took my kids down to Southport Beach by our house before school one morning.

Instead of playing at the playground my 9 yr old son climbed down the rocks to where the surf was crashing onto shore.

Within 10 minutes he produced half a dozen small-scale sized peices of brown, green, and white sea glass.

"Mom, could we make this into jewelry to sell?"

"I will see what I can do."

By the time they came home from school, I had wire wrapped the largest piece of odd shaped green glass with tiny purple crystal beads.

I showed my son the pendant I had made with his treasure.

His little face lit up like a rocket and I knew we were hooked!

I anticipate a summer of scouring the shores of our Lake Michigan home for burried treasure.
