This is 50th birthday present for my cousin who is also my best friend.

All the pieces are from Cape Breton beaches.

I pick up the tiniest pieces as well, as you can see - the blue and red are quite little.

Cape Breton Beach Glass
by: Jen B.

I love the idea of creating a picture with the glass! We stay in Cape Breton every summer and have found the most incredible pieces there. Grocery bags full, ever summer. I almost don't even want to share the location as I'm pretty selfish when it comes to beach glass! My three kids are now competing with me and I may or may not have set an alarm early several mornings to hit the shoreline before they woke up! :0)

I just posted a comment about this, but I found the most amazing piece this year- at first it just looked like a piece of brown that has been melted, but when I held it up to the sun, I could see that somehow, ocean water and a small amount of sand has been trapped inside! It's like my very own Cape Breton snow globe! I'm hoping to make a pendant out of it so that I can keep a piece of Cape Breton and the sea close to me even when I'm back in Ontario.
