Hi,

This is the second piece of sea glass I have ever found. Not sure what it might have been. Pattern on it, shape and size has me wondering. Thank you

Hi Chantal,

Thanks so much for sharing your find—that’s always exciting, especially being only your second piece of sea glass!

When it comes to identifying sea glass, it can sometimes be tricky. Unless a shard has distinctive features—like embossed lettering, a recognizable logo, or a unique color or shape—it’s often impossible to know for sure what the original item was. Over time, tumbling in the ocean softens the edges and wears down details that might have helped with identification.

That said, patterns or unusual textures can sometimes hint at the piece’s past, so it’s always worth hanging onto those “mystery” finds. Even if we can’t trace it back to a specific bottle or object, each piece still has its own story shaped by years in the water.

Congratulations again on your discovery—it’s a special feeling to add another treasure to your collection!
