I carry a small keyring torch, when I want to verify its glass I simply shine the torch through the piece,to see if its transparent,it also shows up the true colour

One Way to Identify Black Seaglass
by: Anonymous Student

I found my first piece of black three weeks ago. I had the easy way of knowing it was black, because one edge was chipped, revealing the glassy look of undone seaglass.

Of course, that wasn't such great news, because of the scorned chip!

Also, sometimes you just know it's seaglass beacuse of the translucent look, like wax paper.

Happy hunting!
