Strange object. Feels like pottery, and has deep red glaze like paint on it.


Can't imagine what it is...or was.

Akro Agate Company

Actually, the Akro Agate Company was formed in 1910 in Akron, Ohio. It was moved to Clarksburg, West Virginia, in 1914, where it remained until its bankruptcy in 1951.

large vintage red and white marble

there were marbles made that were called oxblood and they were swirls of bright red glass and milk glass. I think a German manufacturer used glass with ceramic and agate. Sometimes called arko agate. In history though you can find they were used as drawer pulls and lamp top finials too
