Dominion Beach, Cape Breton Island, Nova Scotia, Canada

Dominion Beach is a very unique beach.

Due to many years of coal mining and coal processing in the area the beach has fine coal dust pieces throughout the sand, specially at the water line.

If you are swimming as you exit the water the coal used to stick to your legs and feet.

It is a great beach for walking, swimming and beach combing. You will find quite a few pieces of beach glass, pottery shards, worn pieces of brick and coal.

Hi Barbara!

It’s very easy to get to Cape Breton from mainland Nova Scotia and is totally worth the trip. It was voted National Geographic’s most beautiful island in the world multiple times.

There are lots of beaches but not all have beach glass.

If you’re on Facebook feel free to send me a message or contact me on my business page.

I’m happy to help with any questions you have and can recommend my favourite spots.

Hi,

I'm visiting Nova Scotia in September as a beachcombing vacation.

Is it difficult to get to Cape Brenton Island, especially Dominion Beach?

Also, are there any other beaches on Cape Brenton Island?
