Have found many sharp pieces as well as rounded and frosted.
Sometimes there are no pieces of glass or whole shells depending on the roughness of the sea and the weather. no dogs allowed.

Tons and Tons of glass always find a special nugget!
The beach has just been allowed to open to swimmers this year so going at night or early morning before the sand is trampled is best.
I have found every color there except Yellow even old bottles from the 1700s.
Most pieces are very smooth and well rounded. ranging from large to small.Jones Beach - January 14th, 2014

Fair in terms of jewelry grade, but you can find at least 10 pieces an hour.
Beach is very small, but nice. $5 to get in if you aren't a resident with a pass. Snack bar, covered pavilion for parties (has to be booked in advance), bathrooms, lifeguards.
