Name of Beach and Location:

Belmont Shores, Long Beach, CA

You'll have to go the Shard Alleys, there's two.

They're between Veteran's Pier and the Quay wall leading out of the harbor. You can't miss them.

Found a lot of brown, green & a little Clear.

They're pretty good sizes, too; no little pieces...

There is sea glass here
by: GT

We've made 3 visits so far and found enough glass to fill up a quart ball jar. Usually we find 20-30 pieces per hour by digging into the shell layer under the surface sand, about 2 hours either side of low tide. We also found pieces at the high tide mark, sitting on top of the sand. A mix of brown, clear and green, though we found our first cobalt piece yesterday. Location is between 54th Place and 55th Place (yes, they both exist).

Belmont Gems
by: Chaz

Hi,

My Mom & I were just there today!

At first, walking by Veteran's pier, nothing! Until about half way to the breaker wall... two gold mines!

I deemed them, 'Shard Rows'... nice finds... lots of browns, greens and some clear & cloudy. No blues or reds... But a nice little spot close to home!

Great day. Lots of variety, including two a few cobalt and red pieces.

This place does exist, although I do think that the 52nd Place address is a bit confusing.

It is exactly where the map indicates, but there is no obvious street marked "52nd Place".

That said, it was a phenomenal day. Found about 25-30 per hour, including my first (two) reds.

Perhaps the combination between the tides and some work being done by a bulldozer on the beach helped turn up more than usual, but even the locals said it was one of the best days they'd seen in a while.

My first journey there, but perhaps not the last.

Come Visit Belmont Shore
by: Anonymous

I go out on this beach towards the peninsula, every day and I have found literally pounds and pounds of sea glass.

Some days are better than others. Last week was phenomenal.

Belmont Shore is a wonderful place to come and enjoy our restaurants, shops, kayaking and more.

We also have Rosie's Beach where dogs are welcome.

Please come and enjoy our little beach town.

Mahalo!

I live in belmont shores.

There is absolutely no 52nd place between those streets. Beach side or Street side.

Don't waste your time.

My wife and I collect sea glass on occasion here...It is probably the worst location that we have collected it. Northern Cali has been much better.

Drove 3 hours to get there, there is no 52nd street, only a 62nd street, there is also no glass, no old pepsi bottles, nothing.....beautiful beach, nice day at the beach, 4 1/2 hour drive home....would not go back.
