Is this bonfire glass?

Is this bonfire glass?

This clear/white piece was found in New Zealand on a beach, and I would like to know whether it is bonfire glass.

It is most irregular in shape.

Any hints would be appreciated thank you.

Thank you Anonymous for your reply to my query.

Your piece does sound interesting, and mine doesn't appear to have ash or anything inside, but I can't imagine what else could have caused such an unusual shape, unless it was a bonfire.

Years ago it was common to have bonfires on the beaches around here and bottles were likely to have been thrown into the fire.

Whatever it is - it's a really interesting piece.

Found too...

I have found bonfire beach glass on the shore of Lake Ontario in Toronto before - the pieces I have found are thick and UN-patterned - they also have charred spots and bubbles inside. Not sure if yours is bonfire glass or not - mine do look different.
