Mother's Day Treasure

~ submitted by Linda Martin Chitturi - Seattle, Washington

This photo was taken looking west from "Glass Beach" near Port Townsend, Washington.

The mountains are those on the Olympic Peninsula.

This beach is well-known for finding sea glass, but you have to make quite an effort to get there.

On Mother's Day 2012 the conditions and tides were perfect, and I hiked (5-6 miles?) to the spot by 11:00am.

This photo was findings from the first 30 minutes.

There were sea otters and whales in the sound... and what a view!

Headed there... Have a question...
by: Vivian

Heading there next week!

Really excited but curious... It looks like you can drive much closer.

Am I wrong? Where do you park?

Any info much appreciated.

Planning to try to do Glass Beach, Deception Pass, Rosario and maybe Orcas.

Sound good? Other suggestions?

Nice Find.
by: Rick

Hi Linda,

Wow what a treat! Congratulations on your nice finds.

I love the picture that you took.

I think if I were you I would make a large print of it and hang it on your wall.

Good luck with your future sea glass finds.

Rick from Wisconsin.
